Well written and refreshingly imaginative...

I read the Joona trilogy when I was about ten years old and distinctly remember being whisked away into Engelmann's lilac and cedar scented world where the swans battled evil to save their kingdom. It is about children who go on a journey to a magical land and journey within themselves. They must confront the evil there and their own personal struggles. The Joona books are excellent for young reader's imaginations. I'm 22 now and still vividly recall how they, along with other children's classics, ignited my interest and adore for fantasy. Engelmann's story of adventure, virtue, and yes, swans is unforgettable.
