Interesting, Yet Entertaining

Everyone in the small community of Hancock knows Susan Henshaw. The somewhat famous rich sleuth. But no one thinks that her help will be needed, during a routine trip to a brand new outlet mall. Of course, everyone is wrong. Since the body of rich, beautiful, Amanda Worth, is found dead in a dressing room with an Hermes scarf tied tightly around her elegant neck. Soon Susan is thrown into a whirlwind of lies, thievery, greed, hatred, and...psychics? People whom Susan has known for years, now seem more like strangers. And one of them has to be the murderer. This was definitely one of the BEST Susan Henshaw mysteries ever. Valerie Wolzien did a great job of developing interesting characters, whom you either hated or loved. A must-read for all fans of the cozy mystery genre.

Fun, quick beach read!

This is my first Valerie Wolzien, and I am looking for more. She keeps you guessing to the end! Susan Henshaw has no reason to get involved in solving another murder; after all, it didn't happen in her village, nor was she especially close to the victim. Then WHY-o-WHY is she catering the wake? A cozy romance and a village of social climbers combined to keep me reading to the wee hours!

I always thought shopping was murder

This is the first of the Susan Henshaw mysteries that I have read. I liked the premise of a murder in an outlet mall. The characters were interesting and the mystery fairly difficult to solve.

Great Addition to a Great Series

This is one of the best in a fun and entertaining series. The characters are lively and realistic (easy to recognize people we all know) and the story moves along nicely. There are a number of threads that all weave together smoothly by the end. The author's subtle, tongue-in-cheek humor adds a nice touch.

Entertaining cozy

The opening of a new outlet mall has everyone excited about purchasing designer items at discount rates. That is everyone except Amanda Worth, who even her spouse Scott knows she wouldn't be caught dead in a bargain environment. However, the next day, Susan Henshaw and Kathleen Gordon find the impossible as Amanda lies dead murdered in a dressing room at the new mall.Susan, unable to accept the impossible and not comfortable with the official police investigation into Amanda's murder, begins her own inquiries. To her shock, Susan soon learns that Amanda had a secret that probably killed her, because if it was revealed could ruin many people. If the killer learns that Susan knows the secret, she probably will join Amanda.DEATH AT A DISCOUNT is an entertaining cozy that fans of the sub-genre will enjoy. Valerie Wolzien expeditiously interchanges Susan's personal life with her amateur sleuthing. That technique makes the heroine and other key players seem real and in turn strengthens the mystery. This series is fun to read and this particular entry will provide much pleasure to Henshaw and other fans of amateur sleuth cozies.Harriet Klausner
