My 11 year old daughter has loved these books and I usually have to make her read! I notice her laughing while she's reading. So that's a good sign!

Our 9 year old has the complete set. She loves these books. She is always reading and we are constantly trying to find a way to challenge her. These books seem to work. She is always telling us about them and the "funny" parts. The only problem is that she reads them to fast and she is almost out of these books. I would highly reccomend them for the child that is not yet ready for Harry Potter, but definetly over Run Spot...
