This book is about a girl who idolizes her older brother who plays high school football. Then one day she discovers he is taking steroids. After she learns of the dangers of steroids, she begs her brother to stop, and, of course, he promises he will stop. He puts off stopping, however, because now he is popular with a girlfriend and lot of college possibilities. Finally, during one of his football games, his heart stops, leaving his family, especially his sister devestated. I read this book when I was in 6th grade, along with Is My Sister Dying?, and I still remember those books vividly. They were the type of books to touch on subjects that could totally happen to you. Now I am 26, and I am planning on buying these books for my children. My oldest will be 9 next year, but I will probably wait until she is 10 or 11. I believe children at that age are better capable of understanding the nature of these books, and how real these problems are. They are also better able to ask questions, and do some research on the subjects themselves. I do highly reccommend book by Alida E. Young. I enjoyed reading these books for many years, and still would had my copies lasted :p
