Surpassed my expectations.

After Suzumi is forced to move in with her uncle in Tokyo, her small-town world gets turned upside down in the big city. All she wants is a normal life, but she can't help wishing that her life will shine like the shooting star she once seen during the day. But alas, she must settle for a handsome stranger that saved her after she collapsed on her way to her uncle's, whom she found out was her home room teacher, and a classmate that is extremely sensitive to touch. In her goal of being normal, all she wanted was a friend, and now she has two very handsome friends. Will Suzume's heart be tugged to and frow, and will she find her daytime shooting star. Going into this volume, I knew little to nothing about it, all I knew it was a high school shojo series like so many. However, this series did not go straight for the romance and instead concentrated on being yourself and finding friends before finding a love, it was quite refreshing. After reading this, I feel the need to reevaluate my expectations going into series that I really only judged from the cover, it's not fair, and I never would have found this gem if I would have followed the incorrect assumption. Suzume is a really fun protagonist that speaks her mind, and even though she is shy, she doesn't let nerves stop her from saying what needs to be said, which was also refreshing and made me really root for her. The rest of the characters were all interesting in their own right and I really would like to get to know more about all of them. Much like the cover, the art has a light and airy feel. Even though it has a lot of black in it's pages, there's still something soft about it that brings you in. I'm really looking forward to continuing this series. It's light-hearted, fun and genuine, the perfect setup for a comfort read.
