Good Humanistic Story

I have read many books by this author and this one is intriguing because he touches on a rare and unusual subject of Baby blackmail. His writing is crisp, compassion and full of emotions. He takes us through a ride of corrupt people who have decided to make a fortunate of the downtrodden and will stop at nothing to get what they want. We have traveled down the road of a many drug addict who will do and struggle to get what they want and need by any means necessary. Their only victory is another "high" unlike like no other. When we follow the trail of Jamillah and can only hope for not much success but there is a shock at the end. This story paints a cruel picture of those who have no compassion for those less unfortunate than them and believe that they can get over on this forgotten history of addicts. There is blatant racism and no shocker from the folks living and dealing with it because for them it is a way of life that you just learn to live with. There are funny moments thrown in to lighten the load but it is a good story about real people that we can relate to or know about. This is an escape from all the novels that praise power and prestige and still come out empty handed. I am glad to finally read something decent with a purpose. Pick this one up and you will not be disappointed.

A book to read

I have not begin to read it.

Loving "Dark Child"

Okay, a friend of mine picked this up from the library and said, "You've got to read this." The first page intrigued me, but as I continued to read, I connected with all the characters. I'm routing for them all, well not all, but I can't wait to see what they're going to do next.

This book was so well written and hard to put down it showed racism is alive and well and some truely want to do the right thing, but just don't know how. I truely loved this story line and any one looking for a good read this is it.

DARK CHILD

The book started off raw, and finished even rawer... This book was very good. how babies are being stolen and sold to the rich... If you want a good laugh, a good cry this is the book to read. Allen was the funniest character and Lawrence was right behind him.. I couldnt put this book down until I finished it. Go head on Travis Hunter, you did your thang with this book, very few errors..I really enjoyed this book. Jamillah was a hero as well, I just think everyone of the characters in this book had an important part. But when the guns started going off, you couldnt have found Jethro anywhere else but down in the seat of the officer's car. That was funny...

Babies For Sale (token)

Black babies are coming up missing and there's no evidence who's taking them. Jamillah, a drug addict, with no hope or future, lost her parent's at an early age, tries to overcome her past by turning to the streets and drugs. Urban Brown, Jammillah's white brother, that once lived a horrid life of abuse, abandonment, murder, and deception overcame his past and became a prosperous, upper-class, and respectable man. Jamillah desperate, and hard on her luck tries to sell a black baby, when this mystery starts to unfold. When Urban stumbles upon the illegal baby-trafficking ring is when he'll risk it all to protect one newborn and bring down this black market operation. This is a fast engaging read from start of the first page to the last and Travis Hunter draws the reader's attention to one of the world's most illegal practices: the black market of babies. I enjoyed this book, wonderful writing, humorous at times, but I also found myself saddened by the situation Jamillah encountered in her life. Dark Child will have you on the edge of your seat, gasping and guessing, but will leave you ready and eager for his next novel. Five star read and a job well done. Recommended for everyone to read.
