I am a big fan of historical romance novels and this book certainly did not let me down. If your looking for a book that is hard to put down and tickles your funny bone at the same time, this one is it. My Dad, who usually reads Westerns, even enjoyed this book. Ms. McGowan gives so much detail that it feels like you are right there with the Dare family. I found myself laughing outloud quite often. Ms. McGowan leads us to believe there will be a series of the Dare family -- I hope so and I will be watching for more to come.
Well developed archetypes, worth a read.

The worst thing about this book is the cover. Rip it off and send it back to the publisher. Ms. McGowan expertly develops my favorite archetypes: the oh-so-refined schoolmarm, drawn to the oh-so-not-so-bad boy. Her setting is rich in historical detail. The peripheral characters add texture and the promise of sequels. I'll certainly read the next Dare Brother story. This is not Ms McGowan's best work but definitely worth a read by lovers of historical romance.
