Daily Delirium

(Part of the Quotidiano Delirante Series)

The complete collection of outrageous gags (many seen in Heavy Metal years back) about the daily travails and absurdities we face in life, peppered with an occasional juicy bite of lunacy. From the superlative author of Streak of Chalk and Tangents - also the designer for the Men In Black animated series - this colourful book really will leave you delirious!

A masterful melange of the sheer audacity of humanity worth ANYBODY'S full day of pay!

Why did I wait? I'm a price alerts guy due to the magnitude of my voracity but this is worth ANYBODY'S full day of pay! Mix's masterful melange of the sheer audacity of humanity is a Gatling Gun of aggressively funny 3-6 page vignettes spanning over a decade which all seems, from the set dressings, to be after the advent of personal computers. The ONLY problem I had with this piece of gold was the nearly complete absense of dates any of it was created (very few accompanying his signatures and none of specific publishing on the copyright page or table of contents. At least you know that it was all before 2003. That last book was after a significant break from books of conventional humor and was simply "chuckle-out-loud" giggles while this is "LOSE-YOUR-BREATH-AND-SWIPE-TEARS-ASIDE-WHEN-YOU-PAINFULLY-STRAIGHTEN-FROM-A-FETAL-POSITION" hysterical! I need to add to this because of it's full of greatness and very long considering how short the stories are: Mix won my all-time (I don't award any other way- trends stifle literature) "Best in Brevity" award handily. I would give it for this at half the length! Despite my near-limitless confidence I cannot imagine (seriously) being able to approach for only one page then left-right-ribs-uppercut like he does. He needs no dancing and only one jab after the hooks to set up the KO and even has around two panels left for a built-in epilaugh! His mastery of pin-pointing and underlining our limitless folly in an unrelenting and PERSONALLY NEUTRAL- He lets the characters do THEIR own "preaching" and roasts across-the-board! I can't help indulging myself: He proves a long-held CERTAINTY of mine (keep in mind that I'm exhaustively optimistic in spite of keen realism): Humans are the worst thing created that our minds can conceive. The vilest monsters in our fiction are more-or-less predictable and can all be defeated unlike the timeless horrors we innately possess. After all, this "devil" that is so common in people's discourse is the most ridiculous of all "deities". It's simply the scapegoat (why do you think it's drawn with hooves and horns?) used to avoid the horror of the one residing in ALL OF US. I prefer to shoulder mine with an angel on the other and surrender my soul to my guardian but that only works outside of my momentary lapses of pure humanity. How satisfying it was to have an entire book to back me up::: My above rhetoric proves the primary theme which is well echoed in Senor P.I.T. II's brief introduction: He affirms Map as "... an abundant chronicler, an efficient narrator of daily routine." with "psychological accuracy and his taste for the grotesque is marvelous- much more notable are his ethics: evil is within us, under the system, but clamped down by thick pins within each of us, as can be seen through abuse, picayune power, insularity, impunity and the victory of small-time smarts." in "a world that resembles the one we share, resembles it all to dangerously...(end)" The detriment of our daily dalliances is deftly and definitively displayed within a diorama of deviance! OH YEAH THE ART! Is perfectly suited with his use absurdly manufactured grins and unusual ability to RARELY draw similar characters. He also has command of all ethnicities which us North Americans rarely see in our native artists, most of whom only bother mastering shades of light white. He even employs impossibly (that's important) low ears to add to his caricatures of fools. The art is all-around-great that's even more impressive when done in color! READ THIS AND WEEP- THE TEARS WILL CLEANSE ANY DIRT FROM YOUR CURRENT DISPOSITION!
