Cuore: Heart

I first read this book when I was a kid growing up in Mexico. Once I picked it up, I could not stop reading. Images of parental love and life in late 19th century Italy still reverberate in my mind. Now that I have a child of my own I intent to read him short stories from this wonderful literary work. Your local university library ought to have a copy of the book if you can't find it anywhere else. There is a web site that has some of the stories in italian... if all else fails. Key word is "Edmondo de Amicis." This work deserves a NOBEL.

A pesar de que el cuento fue escrito en Italia hace más de un siglo, hoy en día nos interesa los mismos temas de la humanidad. Se trata de un niño que escribe su diario durante un año escolar; incluye su vida diaria y también los cuentos mensuales de uno de sus profesores. Los cuentos ofrecen mensajes acerca de la humanidad y uno no puedo leer este libro sin reflexionar sobre sus propias virtudes.

This is the book which all schools should make our youngsters read. In today's world, where respect, compassion, honesty, purity and tenderness come a terrible second at best, a book like Cuore: "Heart of a Boy" stands as the sincere beacon for our children to follow, a must-read for our kids. Just look around, what's happening to our youth, no one teach them all of these lofty values, no surprise then we have cases like the "Colunmbine" schools.......I'm very astonished that this book is completely out of print in the United States, what a grand deprivation for our kids...what a crime !

In today's world where respect, compassion, honesty, purity and tenderness come a sad second at best, this book stands as a most needed beacon for our kids to learn and follow. It's enough to look around to realize that these values are non existent in our youth, no surprise we have tragedies like the Columbine school.....I'm very astonished that this book is completely out of print in the USA, what a terrible deprivation for our youth....what a crime !

Corazon es un libro excelente. Cuando era adolescente lo lei por primera vez y experimente con su lectura muchisimos sentimientos. En el se aprenden o reafirman muchos valores humanos, el amor a la familia, a la escuela, a los amigos, el respeto a las personas mayores, a los descapacitados. El amor a la Patria y a todas las cosas que emprendemos. Me gustaria que todos los ninos del mundo tuvieran la posobilidad de leerlo.
