I've never read any books by Jeff Mann before, so this was something different. I read this book and gave it to my friend afterwards. We both agreed that the book felt unfinished... or rather, the ending was fairly unsatisfying. Most of the book is actually pretty good, but the ending is just really boring and uneventful. I just feel like there could've been more, but perhaps the ending was rushed out. This book is essentially just erotica, wrapped in a guise of a novel.
I do like the fact that the book's main character (Travis) isn't a generic gay fiction/romance character, but rather he's a bit more developed, bearish, and somewhat of a redneck. I found some of the characters in Cub to be somewhat relatable, being from a small town. It's hard to find gay romance books with characters that you can actually relate to.
