Set in Florida and North Carolina, "Crowfoot Ridge" is the powerful story of a woman's triumph over her traumatic past and her discovery of an enduring love. This description may be from another edition of this product.
Crowfoot Ridge may be described as one woman's story but it's a story mirroring many women's lives. Ann Brandt's strong sense of place and economy of style hold the reader's attention without condescension, offering a poignant portrait of the tyranny of long-held secrets and shame, and that yes, despite past unhappiness and the uncertainty of a cynical world, a happy ending is still a possibility. Please, Brandt, write again! A loyal reader.
Great read

The characters were well drawn and realistic. The author then took these characters, which hailed from times past and present, and drew them together into a deep relationship that kept me reading from the beginning right up to the end. Great first effort. Great read.
fascinating story of a unhappy Florida wife with a past

I met Anne Brandt at a writers conference (my first one). I cannot believe the hell she went through getting this book published. It is a wonderful story starting in Florida and ending in North Carolina. The scenery is described beautifully but the important part here is the story itself. I'm not giving away any of the plot but it is a book I couldn't put down. Oprah should pick this one up. My husband should pick this up. The tale feels real and is scary at times.
This Gem must not go undiscovered!

I loved every minute of it and could not put it down. Ann Brandt does a great job of weaving in more than one basic plotline with strong characters that are complex and believeable. I also enjoyed the description of the North Carolina scenery. Ann Brandt uses such wonderful imagery that I felt as if I was right there. She also does an excellent job of pulling together the main plot as well as the sub-plots and bringing the book to a strong finish. This book is definately on my recommended reading list!
Ann Brandt finds gold on Crowfoot Ridge
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 27 years ago
People have dug into the Appalachian hills for generations, looking for coal. Ann Brandt has mined the same region for gold. Her novel Crowfoot Ridge is the evocatively-told tale of a woman who has decided she must return to Crowfoot Ridge and reveal the truth about a hideous childhood incident. It is a secret she has kept all her life, but after a brush with death opens her eyes to the lie she has been living, she knows that only by returning to Crowfoot Ridge and revealing this secret can she set herself free of it. This book features powerful writing, a finely-tuned sense of place and character, and a storyline that keeps you turning the pages until the surprising and emotional finale.
