Creating Cool HTML 4 Web Pages [With CDROM]

Just about anyone can create a website with freeware/shareware HTML editors that require very little to zero knowledge of HTML. That is how I got started as well. But, take it from me, your creativity is severely limited when you design a website solely based on its appearance without ever learning how to code HTML by hand. For a while I had a difficult time to comprehend basic HTML scripting after purchasing stuffy books that solely contained a list of tags and explained by definition what each tag's purpose was. One day a friend suggested the book 'Creating Cool HTML 4 Web Pages', and from that day onward my HTML scripting headaches ended, and my creativity soared which resulted in great web sites. I definitely wish to recommend this book to novice and intermediate web designers alike.

The "Creating Cool HTML 4 Web Pages" by Dave Taylor is in my opinion the best beginners guide to writing and HTML for a number of reasons. First, the book covers each and every subject in a very detailed manner so if you're a beginner, or a pro at writing an HTML, all the information is very helpful. The book also demonstrates how to apply graphics, links, etc., with step to step instuctions and picture in the booklet just to make sure that what you did turned out "right". The book also includes a CD which has on it a demo for many softwares that will help make your web site great, and information in the book to also show you how to use them. Basically this is the best tutorial and reference guide, for a low price.

I started learning to build web pages with this book and have sinced moved into state-of-the-art WYSIWGs but - I still use html every day. You can design and construct without knowing html but it sure makes learning and understanding a much smoother and easier process. 'Creating Cool HTML 4' is without a doubt the best resource I have on my shelf. It's easy to follow, moves you smoothly through the basics to the higher planes, and covers html thoroughly. And! it's a lot cheaper than Dreamweaver.

There are a lot of people who know lots of things, but just don't know how to teach. This is definitely not true when it comes to Dave Taylor. His well-written book on the Web's language should be able to explain HTML to anyone, especially novices. I created two websites just using his book, and they look pretty good too!The only complaint I have is because of the lax coverage of CGI. I still give the book 5 stars though, becauses this is a book on HTML, not CGI. This excellent book is recommended for anyone interested in learning HTML, and so BUY IT NOW!

For web enthusiasts looking for a great beginning/intermediate book on HTML and webpage authoring, this is the book. I found this book not only easy to read, but also enjoyable. Using lots of exmaples and clear code, Dave discusses the internet and current technology, HTML 4 tags, cascading style sheets, java script, backgrounds, audio, dynamic HTML, registering and page maintenance, and much more. This is by far the best the best starters resource out there I have seen. Highly recommended.
