Very useful

Strongly recommend. I bought this book one month ago, and it is a really good preparation for the real test. There are two tests for each portion with a lot explanation.I passed the test. Good Luck to you. Another good one is PPST Study Guide (Praxis Study Guides) by ETS. Barron's is not good as these two.

Great Help for PPST!

This book gives you great information and practice for the Praxis I (PPST) test! Make sure to pick it up!

A Great Help

This helped my son prepare for and pass on his first try at the Praxis 1.

Short & Sweet & Helpful

This book is a refreshing departure from some of the 500+ page books out there for PRAXIS test preparation. In the first 117 pages, author Cornelia Cocke gives you an overview of the test, in general, then offers some candid, to-the-point tips for taking the PRAXIS II test (which could be helpful hints for taking ANY type of standardized test) -- including an easy-to-remember list of principles for test-taking.After these hints, the author takes the would-be test taker through the basics of the ONLY TWO types of PRAXIS II tests this book focuses on (and keep this focus in mind when buying!): "The Test of General Knowledge" and "The Test of Communication Skills" (the book includes an audio CD to help with the listening section of this test). While I am going to be taking the "Middle Grades: Content Knowledge" PRAXIS II test, the "General Knowledge" section of this book was applicable as a test-prep. study guide, and all the other hints & tips were very helpful for general test prep. Then the book includes a practice test for each of the TWO types of tests on which this book focuses. The only downside in comparison to some other test-prep. books is that there are no explanations to go along with the answers. The other refreshing departure this book makes is that it's written in everyday language that gives the reader the sense that a good buddy is sitting down talking to you and "telling you like it is!" For example, in the section on "Cracking the System," the author writes, "Principle #4: One Test At a Time:" "Yeah, yeah, we know: You just want to get it over with. Or you have scheduling problems. Whatever. You know in your heart we're right. If you are the least bit worried about passing any of the three tests in the Core Battery, you should not take all three at once. Most people do, and it hurts their scores...." This straight talk gets right to the point, and balances well with the factual, content-helpful material.I feel more confident about taking the test after having read this book, and I would recommend it as ONE of possibly two or more test-prep books you choose.
