Courageous Faith: Life Lessons from Old Testament Heroes

This was required reading for my OT Survey Class. My prof was, of course, Dr. Hindson. This is an excellent book as a standalone and provides great insight into Biblical culture and customs. It really puts some real life perspective behind what we seem to refer to as "stories". As a college textbook in conjunction with the course, it did not do much to further or illumine my understanding.

This is a great book. It really makes you look at things in a way you probably never looked at them before. It goes into detail about the character's life, and at the same time tells what the customs were at that time, and why they were acceptable, or unusual. It also goes into the character's emotions, and feelings, and compares them to our own. Each chapter in the book is a different character of the old testament, and each character is faced with different situations that everybody can relate to. This book corasponds 100% with the Bible.

I really enjoyed this book because it provides a guided, in-depth yet fairly brief look at the culture and issues surrounding Old Testament figures such as Jacob, etc. If you are looking for an overview of Old Testament heroes along with life application learning points, then this book is for you. I used this book during a Bible Study, and it was excellent for that use.

This was a required read for a college class, but has soon turned into one of my favorites. Dr. Hindson has a true God given talent to bring the beautiful stories and lessons of the Old Testament to life. His pure and easy word flow only adds to this treasure of a book.
