A poetic portrait of a day in the life of a country girl follows a child as she eats her breakfast, runs out to the bus, studies in school, plays at recess, and enjoys a quiet evening with her family. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book tells a beautiful little story about a day in the life of a school boy who lives out in the countryside and is totally in-tune with all the wonderment of nature and it's excitement. It goes from the time he wakes up and hears his father enjoying his dog outside, to seeing the sun rise and make the lake look pink, to feeling the wind and the cold crisp air, to hearing his dog bark as he leaves for school and returns, to hearing the laughter of other children, riding on the school bus through "forests of black trees and white trees", to noticing the turns and beauty of the road they are travelling on and all the beautiful colors and other scenery, watching the rain drops through the schoolhouse window, having hot cocoa after running home with his dog in the cold air, etc., The illustrations by Kay Chorao are beautiful and really capture the wonderment and excitement of the story and the innocence of childhood. The colors of the pastel-type illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. I love this story and also the beautiful pictures. It's one you will want to keep--leaves you with a sense of serenity.
