DELIGHTFUL author and WONDERFUL artist - WOW FACTOR!!!

I have all of the Porter books and have ordered paintings from him. He is LOVELY to work with!!!! His website is matthewporterart.com which shows off his skills. Best of all you can order paintings of family in their character form but as a monkey! JUST LOOK its great!!!! I really love it! As for the book it is beautiful. Thanks for all the joy you bring us! Beautifully simple book.

We purchased this book for my youngest daughter for Christmas. She has developmental delays both physically and congnitively so we bought it as a very simple way to teach pointing (and will use it to teach counting when she is ready for that). Since the birds on each page are very similar it makes them both easy to identify and a challenge to identify because the colors and patterns of the birds and backgrounds are similar (just like on the cover). It is really very beautifully illustrated and I love that it is a pleasure for me to look at while I read it to her over and over. I also like that it reinforces the bird image on each page counting from 1 to 10 as opposed to many counting books in which the item you count changes from page to page. It is also nice that the number is very largely displayed on the adjacent page with the number spelled out as well. Even though this book is not expressly for children with developmental or cognitive delays I think it is great for that purpose. I think it would be equally great for children without delays. Best of all my daughter thinks it's a really fun activity to point to all the birds. I've never seen her laugh and smile so much. I would love to see more books like this.
