Corduroy Goes to the Doctor (lg format)

This is a sweet little book for ages 1 - 3. The character is familiar, and little ones can relate as Corduroy goes to the doctor for a checkup and gets a shot. It helps prepare toddlers for an experience that can be scary to them. The book is easy to read to a very young child with short sentences and simple concepts. My son got this when he was around 12 months and he read it until it fell apart. I'm getting a new one for his little brother.

We read this book constantly. It has been a great way to teach my 28 month old not to be afraid of going to the doctor and getting shots, etc. It has really worked for us. I think because she loves Corduroy so much she can relate. It is a great book.

My little 2 1/2 year old always cried and screamed when he would go to the doctor. Before his next appointment, we got this book and it made a huge difference. Everytime the doctor would check him, he would say "like Corduroy Daddy?" I would say yes and he would let the doctor do what she needed to do. This book is very cute and works very well.

This is an excellent book to prepare your child before going to the doctor. Many children are afraid of the unexpected. Being in the medical field, I find that children who are prepared beforehand do better. This book describes Corduroy's day at the doctor. It gives vivid pictures of him entering the office, being weighed, and having his throat and ears examined. It also shows the doctor listening to Corduroy's heart while giving him breathing instructions! At the end Corduroy gets a shot as the doctor explains, "We don't want you to get sick." My daughter (age 3) is great at the doctor's office and I really owe a lot to it to Corduroy! My daughter loves Corduroy!

This short and simple book has been very helpful to me. My 1 year old son has to go to the doctor VERY OFTEN for ear infections. He seems to relate well to seeing what Corduroy does there, and we talk about when he does to the doctor and they do those things. I think it would be helpful to explain to children who don't have to go often as well, in knowing what to expect. The pictures are great, and the words are simple and to the point for young children.
