Simply Wonderful

Quite simply put, this book is a wonderful collection of short stories. There's nice variety in the story lines with different characters at different stages of life. Through the telling of these anecdotes the moon gives us all something to think about. When I finished this book I found myself wishing for one more chapter to keep the stories going.

A Mood Lifter

I received this book as a gift from a good friend of mine. I had been feeling a little down about my job and this book was a great pick me up. It got my mind off my situation for a while and the stories left me with a very positive feeling. Two other reasons why I liked this book: 1) There is a different story in each chapter. I like variety. 2) It was a quick read. I don't like long books that take me weeks to read. I don't have a lot of time on my hands.

Great Modern Fiction!

This book is so well written that I have included it as part of the curriculum in a class I am teaching on modern fiction. Instead of telling you how highly I thought of this book and the writing style, I thought I'd give you a summery of the chapters so that you can see what's in store if you buy it, and I hope that you do!Chapters:Prologue: A few preliminary remarksCh. 1: In the proximity of MoonlightStory about a career woman who returns to her small hometown.Ch. 2: A Doorway to the MoonStory about two sisters who are very different but still close.Ch. 3: Painting the New MoonStory about two artists, one successful and one struggling.Ch. 4: Gibbous DreamsStory about a baseball player who dreams of making it big.Ch. 5: Moonbeams and MagicGhost story where a teenage boy's dog gets lost when the teenager is out causing some mischief with his friends.Ch. 6: Waxing and WaningStory follows the different owners of a ring through the years and how the value of the ring changes depending upon the situation.Ch. 7: A Waning LightStory about a musician who father did not respect his son's choice of career.Epilogue: Concluding remarks

Enchanting

I bought this book to read on a plane since I had a long flight. The book kept me entertained the whole time I read it. While the moon is an enchanting character, each of the stories is unique and there is a nice assortment of main characters. These main characters range from a baseball player to a career woman who returns to visit her hometown to artists. There's even a ghost story mixed in. All in all, it's a nice assortment of characters and stories with something for everyone to enjoy. I will be taking this book to my reading group to share and discuss it.

Beautifully Written Prose

I usually stick to the classics, but I loved the way this book was written. The prose has a somewhat poetic quality at times that is beautiful and touching. Highly recommended. Five stars easily.
