Leaders Must Seek The Truth To Serve The People's Freedom!

I had the pleasure of listening and questioning the author at the National Press Club on his views on this book. I must say, he has come to some strong conclusions that reflect his own deep faith in his religion and himself being true to his heart. The book outlines several explanations how people often become lost in search of materialism, fame, and recognition instead of just pursuing the truth. The writer has been greatly influenced by his own experiences of being six years old when Hitler came to power and 20 when it ended. He outright acknowledges that he and he alone was a victim of not only his own Nazi's lies but those of his own. He clearly calls for all people to learn from his mistakes and not stand by when the truth is abused to discriminate against others in the name of fighting evil. The author makes the argument that there is no difference between the actions of dishonest people and the actions of millions of Germans who had no part in the crimes of the Nazis. In fact, he claims that bystanders who were afraid to speak out and dare not risk themselves actually made it possible for the Nazis to commit their slaughter. The book has many smart observations and beliefs that jump off almost every page. He concentrates especially on Jesus Christ seeking the foundations of truth so all-future leaders practice serving the public rather than themselves. Yet, he feels during this age of globalization all citizens must be wary of Demagogues saying whatever the people want to hear but often doing just the opposite. The writer does make the examination that the Koran teaches people to be polite and honest, but it is often misused by Islamic Fundamentalists who actually practice the intolerance to target others for evil. It is a fine example of why democracy cannot take hold in the Islamic world since it will misuse basic truths. The very perfection of the Islamic belief system begot a naive absolutism that made the compromises of normal political life impossible. The Writer warns about highly militarized and centralized states based on socialism run by former Communists are to be feared as well because they seldom seek the truth.I found this book very close to what Samuel the Prophet warned the people of Israel against seeking a King to govern them. He said the people would end up serving the King rather than the King serving them. It took Jesus Christ to show all world leaders how to become Public Servants for all people if they want to serve people. In summary, the book provides many examples of justifications by preaching that everyone must seek the truth to hold on to freedom and that truth starts with them and their G-d, not someone telling you what the truth is to them!
