Confusing Love with Obsession: When Being in Love Means Being in Control

I loved reading this book. It presents a number of examples that are highly useful in understanding what the bias of a human mind can be. I think its a great book not only for someone that thinks of having a controlling obsession. In fact, its a great book for everyone, very helpful to become aware of what certain behaviors can hide, and learn how to read the signals of an unhealthy relationship before you spend too much time on it.

This book goes well beyond what you expect. It's an indepth look at obsessive relationships and how they tick. But it also helps you distinguish between an obsessive relationship and a regular one. There are many valuable pieces of advice on love and family relationships, and distinguishing what is healthy and what is not. Fortunately, this not like many self-help or psychology books, where you feel the information is above you. It is written in a highly-readable, interesting style. Whether or not you're an impatient reader, this will hold your interest--and you will "get" the information presented. Examples from real life help you understand the seemingly minor differences between regular and obsessive relationships. If you've ever suspected your relationship is bordering on control and meeting another's needs, this is certainly the book for you. It is incredibly helpful.

Are you loved--or are you an object of obsession? This is the tough question you can sort out with the help of this book. I've never seen a book deal with this subject. Many of us have been subject to this type of controlling, sort of insane relationship. And who has helped? Finally there is a book to explain some of the actions of a loved one who is more oriented toward obsession than true love. This book can help you distinguish between how to change such a relationship into a loving one, or when it is not going to be anything but obsessive and move on. I guess the people most interested in this book will be those with an obsessive partner, and that makes sense--finally there is a book to help us sort out the mysterious codes and signals that reveal an obsessive relationship rather than a healthy one.

Wow, I can't begin to tell you what a help this will be to you if you've ever had a partner whom you suspect is looking a little too close. This book will explain those behaviors that are just plain obsessive--looking into your bank accounts, talking to your friends, etc.--crazy stuff that crazy lovers do. Best of all, the book explains the whys behind the behaviors, so that you can begin to heal and understand that it's not you, it's the behaviors of the other person that are over the top. I don't easily follow books like this unless they are written in a clear, sensible, easy-to-understand style, and this one certainly fits that. Every chapter is fascinating and builds deeper insight. I highly recommend it.

This was the first book that truly spoke to my situation. I had a hard time putting the book down becuase I related to so many of the people inside. Finally, someone has written a book for both women and men about obsessive, addictive relationships. I feel like I have new insight into problem and can start making positive changes in my life. Excellent book for anyone caught up in another person.
