This book is filled with a wealth of fascinating quotations, important and unique dates in history to share with your students, puzzles, recipes, etymologies, reproducibles, and a variety of other creative suggestions for every month of the year. I have used this book faithfully since I purchased it in 1995. It looks as though it has been through the wringer! It is a refreshing change from the majority of K-8 activity books that are commonly sold. Dana Newmann has a unique style that is often difficult to come by when researching resource books for teachers. In addition, "The New Early Childhood Teacher's Almanack" by Dana Newmann is just as valuable a resource for anyone working in the area of Early Childhood. It does not matter if you are a pre-school teacher or working with pre-school aged children in a childcare setting; you will find this book invaluable. My co-workers frequently ask me to borrow both books. Dana Newmann's "Almanack's" are timeless and do not subscribe to any educational trends or philosophies. Therefore, you will always find them useful. They are in a class of their own!
