Wish I may , wish I might...

The main character in here is Annie. Even though she's only eleven, she's already afraid of dying. She wants to live long enough so she can do the next "Great Thing." Even the newspapers are saying that Halley's comet is bringing the end to the world. Lots of the stuff that happen in the book are so TRAUMATIZING. I admire Annie for braving them all. I like the song her brother sent her: "I live in Kit Carson, the land of the free, the home of the grasshopper, bedbug and flea. Come along, boys, and I'll tell you my fame. I'm starving to death on dad's old claim."I also like Annie's version: "My home's in Kit Carson, the land of the snake. Watch out for tornados, they'll make your head ache."I can hardly believe Annie is real, or even half-real. In the author's note, Madge Harrah says Annie is actually a friend of hers but she changed the story a bit. I not only appreciate Annie but also her dad. I just luv the way he stood up to Henry Foster and his dad. And the way Madge Harrah wrote made everything so realistic. The way thet felt and talked and did things seemed so REAL. I'm glad Annie finally got to do a Great Thing. I wish that there would be a book after this when she sets off to be a professional artist. That should be good. Also I'm just DYING to read Honey Girl. People say it's even better.Thanx2 for readin' this.
