Warriors: Code of the Clans

I highly recommend this series to any child who loves to read. My daughter and her friends all read the series and talk about it all the time.

All of us Warriors fans are well aware of the warrior code,that set of laws that the Clan cats live by (and break,in some cases).But have you ever wondered exactly how the code came to be? Well,wonder no longer!In this volume the Erins take us back to the Forest to learn the circumstances its creation. The book is made up of about 13 or 14 sections.Each section stands for a part of the code.The particular rule being discussed is placed at the very beginning of each section,and then there is a story which explains why that rule became a part of the code,and occasionally an extra story describing what happened when a certain cat broke the rule. The stories, from the tragic tale of the lovers Ryewhisker and Cloudberry,which led to cross-Clan romance being forbidden,to my personal favorite,which features Lionheart as an apprentice and tells how he discovers a shocking secret about the then leader of ThunderClan,Pinestar,are fantastic.It's hard to put into words,but they have that old Warriors 'feel' to them.I don't know if it's because they're set in the Forest(which I still miss) but they are reminiscent of the original series and are a real 'trip down memory lane' for those of us who love that series. Code of the Clans is a high-quality,wonderful read and one I would reccomend for any Warriors fan who misses the'old days' of the series.You really did a great job with this one,Erins!I give it two thumbs up!

Long ago, the forest was wild and untamed. The cats that lived there fought constantly, and many cats died. Their ancestors spoke, and the message was clear: Unite, or Die. Thus began the Clans: ThunderClan, Fierce and Brave, WindClan, Swift and Loyal, RiverClan, Clever and Strong and ShadowClan, Wily and Proud. This book explains the code the cats live by, and how it came to be in descriptive stories. The book also comes with some glossy pictures that visually describe some parts of the warrior code. There are one or two stories that explain one section of the warrior code. This is a must read for any "Warriors" cat fan!

Reviewed by Ben Weldon (age 11) for Reader Views (7/09) "Warriors: Code of the Clans" by Erin Hunter is a collection of short stories explaining the Warrior Code. The Warrior Code is a code of chivalry held sacred by the cats of the clans. The book explains the origins and details of the fifteen rules that dictate life in the clans. All cats of all clans must abide by the Warrior Code or risk being severely punished. The Code spells out how kits should be treated. For example, they must be fed before apprentices and warriors, and a kit must be at least six moons old before he or she can become an apprentice. It gives direction as to who will become clan leader when the leader dies or retires. And, of course, all warriors must reject the soft life of a kittypet. The book was much more that just a list of rules. There were many sad parts but also some really funny parts. My favorite, and probably the funniest, was when an apprentice tried to feed another apprentice a fire ant during an important border tactics lesson. A really sad part was when three kits tragically drowned while warriors from another clan watched on and took no action. One of the onlookers later had a vision that had the drowned kits survived, they would have become great and important cats. As a consequence of his vision, now all warrior cats, regardless of clan, must look out for all kits. The book had some cool color illustrations that really helped me understand what was going on during the stories. The scenes helped me picture the main theme of that code. I would recommend this book to people who love animals, cats in particular. After I started reading the book I didn't want to put it down. There are two more Warriors books like this about clan life and I can't wait to read them. Even if you haven't read any other Warriors books, you will enjoy this one. "Warriors: Code of the Clans" by Erin Hunter was a great book and I think most everyone who reads it will enjoy it as much as I did.

I think this was a much better than Sunrise and a very nice explanation for each of the codes. It gives away quite a bit about Tigerstar. It leads to a lot of theory's I think. But this was very interesting. Especially Leafpool narrating it because of *Spoiler*. Very nice illisrtations as well. It also includes Skyclan which is also a plus. The opnly thing I find a bit annoying about it that is that the name Sunspots is used. (I came up with t on a RP site). But other than that, it was excellent.
