Waited more than a month for this item which was supposedly shipped Oct 22nd. My emails to the vender were ignored. The order has been canceled and American Express has given me credit for the order. I am currently using a library copy of the book. The sweaters in the book are very classic and look elegant and expensive. Am sorry the book seller was not reliable.
Classic Style for Real Women
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 18 years ago
Here is a book with classic designs - not frumpy nor dated, just classic. The sizing is not really in the plus range, but can easily be adapted. The working woman who wears classic suits will find appealing patterns to expand her wardrobe. The woman who wants to knit something elegant or practical or comfortable that will be worn until it wears out will find appealing patterns in this book. This book is a "keeper." If you want the faddish, show-your-belly-button, curve-hugging knitting patterns, buy a magazine. I'll still be knitting from this book well after those magazines are in the trash.
Love It!

Very happy to have purchased this book. The patterns are great--easily modified if you don't want the bobbles and bits. The sizing could be better--a 48" or 52" bust should be accomodated, if not higher--but I'm quite thrilled that the patterns are sized by bust measure--makes it easier to upsize if necessary when you know how much ease the garment is supposed to have.

Some of the other reviewers here obviously don't know much about knitting. The size listing of 46 is garment size, not finished measurment. All you have to do is look at the schematics for the finished measurments which show 50+ inches for the patterns. Several of the styles are really very nice and yes some of us do have $200 dollars to spend on nice yarn and don't buy at the hobby stores. These authors design for Rowan International and Rowan has an excellent pattern line, especially if you seek out some of the vintage ones. Give this book a chance especially if you don't have the expertise to adjust your patterns yourself.
