A FUN ANYTIME READ

I enjoyed this book more than I expected to as I am not into fashion. However, I agree with previous reviewers that the main characters are ones you would like to get to know better. I would have liked a bit more personality development in Armstrong, he was way too silent. I didn't have a clue who the bad guy was until the last chapter or two. I also liked the way she presented some of the effects of the ills of todays society, steroids, STDs, & and the lure of beauty in a factual but non-judgmental way. I will look forward to her next book.

Contemporary & Clever

This book has got to be one of the funniest in recent fiction. It's far more character-driven than plot, the pace is fairly quick, and it's combo of edgy and entertaining take it almost out of the female-driven market. The main character is much smarter than the cover suggests and I loved the L.A. rhetoric. The modernized version of homicide in tinseltown is a funny and fervish read. I would recommend this book to others, especially readers who are into Evanovich-style writing.

Highly Original

Not exactly what I expected. Kind of picture Reese Witherspoon as Claire Fontaine. Witty dialogue, especially between the heroine and her P.I. boss. The book is somewhat of a cozy hybrid, which doesn't always work, but the plotting is very good and the author got a five-starred review in Kirkus. Los Angeles is a perfect backdrop for this kind of genre, which could fall into the "What Not To Wear For The Private Detective" category.

Sharp Writing & Eccentric Characters...

I read this book in ONE day. It's more in the mystery/thriller category. Enright's descriptions of life and death in L.A are both witty and gritty. The book is very much a satire and a take on living in L.A. - which many outside the city might not get. The dialogue between the heroine and her P.I. boss drives the story and there are some classic one-liners. The writing is excellent because the author is so visual. There are a few flaws, as with any first novel. But it's a clever read and fast.

Claire Fontaine, One Awesome Lady!

If you have an awesome fashion sense, and love to read, then this book is for you! I decided to read this book because of the clever title. Instantly, I fell in love with the two main characters of this book. Claire Fontaine is classy, very well dressed and very blessed in the money department. She partners with a homicide detecive with no fashion sense, and loves to eat anything greasy. Throw in the sexy, mysterious neighbor, a murder too, then you've got the perfect mystery. This is the only book as of now this author has wrote, but she is hard at work on her second novel. I read this book in one day, and as a mystery lover and a librarian, I know you'll love this too!
