Good coffee-table book

This book summarizes a number of architecture projects in the Southwark area of London carried out in the late 20th/early 21st century. After a brief introduction, the bulk of the book is a list of project descriptions---two pages each---with pictures of the corresponding developments. Almost all the major new developments in this part of London, including the Tate Modern, the City Hall building and the Millennium bridge, are covered. The narrative provides a connection between the various projects, showing how the South Bank of the Thames is gradually being transformed and revitalized. Each project is not only described but also critiqued. Some historical pictures of the area, such as around the present day Hay's Galleria, are provided for comparison. Also included are some current projects (as of 2009), such as the London Bridge Tower ("Shard of Glass") and the Elephant and Castle development project. My only complaints are that a map is not provided, so it is hard to place the developments in context, and that more pictures could have been included (at the expense of some of the more minor projects, if necessary).
