CID is easy to understand as a design exam

To understand this book you must have a good working understand of the CCNP foundation. Which is Switching Routing and remote access. In those books they cover the design parts that you need for the good design work. It is import to realize that there are many way to design a network that works succesfully. Cisco has it's own design ideas. I have taken the design exam and everthing you need to know is in the CID book. It may jump out and bit you but you have to look for it. I have everthing exept my IE and I will be doing that next year. So all I can say is if you think that this is easy and the exam will be easy you better go back and read the book and also go to Cisco web site and down load ATM design. It is a little more in depth than the book. I enjoyed this book and it was challanging in a few way but the points were delivered.

About all you need for CID.

Designing Cisco Networks is the first step and you become a CCDA. To become a CCDP you have to pass several other exams including CID, Cisco Internetwork Design and since Cisco is where the exam comes from then it should only natural Cisco Press would be the book to learn from. In this 725 page mountain of knowledge you will fine every objective covered and covered extremely well. From the design overview of the Cisco models and hierarchical design to business requirements and technical specs are just the surface and beginning of the book. Moving further into the book you'll learn about switched LAN solutions using VLANS, ATM Solutions, over 70 pages on IP Routing and Addressing. Protocols like IGRP, OSPF, EIRGP and AppleTalk are also covered. From there you move to WAN Design using X.25, Frame Relay and Remote Access. Another area with a great deal of coverage is the 125 pages for SNA. Finally Network Security with the use of firewalls, NAT, IPSec and VPN through L2TP, PPTP and LAC. Voice technologies finish off the book covering VoIP and VoATM. Each chapter has questions and scenarios and well as a cd include with over 200 practice questions. Overall Cisco Press may have just about done everything except take the test for you.

The Sure Shot for the CID exam.

After reviewing the other popular texts for the CID exam, it was clear to me that they were lacking somethings that are needed for the CID exam. This book covers everything needed for the CID exam. Supplement this book with a BOSON test and good luck.William
