Circle of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Facilitator's Guide

Although Circle of F.R.I.E.N.D.S (COF) was written for a younger audience (ages 8-14), I envision its use with even older teens in high school as well. As a former high school educator in Ohio, many of Susan Fee's activities would have been useful in Health Education, English class, and even Social Psychology courses. Even her chapter on "stress management" applies to many younger and older teens today as some juggle studies, after school jobs, divorce arrangements, etc. The COF Facilitator's Guide can easily be used by parents during summertime, by therapists who see younger girls (individually or in group sessions), and even as a resource for college professors who teach Childhood Development or Teacher Training courses. One of my favorite elements of Susan's book is the CD ROM containing reproducible handouts for any facilitator using her group activities. This book is invaluable, practical and holistic in its approach to girls' development. Well worth the investment!

Having worked with thousands of girls in recreation and school programs, I see the need to give them valuable life skills. Circle of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. gives practical tools for teachers, Scout leaders and anyone else working with young girls to teach them skills they'll use the rest of their lives. The interactive exercises show girls how to make choices, be a good friend and solve problems. Circle of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. gives girls a chance to learn through role play, interactive activities and creative projects.Some of the ideas can even be used at Birthday parties!
