This book is an excellent example of homosexuality in a science fiction setting. The characters are complex and believable for such a futuristic setting. The sexual encounters are more romantic than graphic, but still very erotic. Nader's style of writing is evocative and the plot moves along at a fast pace. It will keep you guessing about the outcome right to the last page. An excellent book!
super man love

george nader has done a wonerfull job, of mirroring a fantastical future world wherin the love that dare not speak its name takes on a new face. chrome and vortex are mad max iron lovers battling the universe to save their sacred love. with highly spiritual undertones and a precious vulnerability that each of the characters possess, this novel is both a moving love story and a voyage into a sterile and artless future where control and domination is ever-present but the will to live and enjoy pleasure prevails.
Buy It! Buy It! Buy It! If you can get your hands on it!

This is an UNBELIEVABLE work of science fiction. Written years ago. I read this book 15 years ago, and I've been with "My" Vortex ever since. It's REAL Sci-Fi, but with gay heros. I had to buy it "this time", because I didn't return it to the guy I borrowed it from last time and someone took it. Now that's karma.Light on heavy sex, but strong on "I can't help but love'in that man of mine".And because it was written a while back in 1978(read no concept of a PC), some of the "technology" is a little off.BUT STILL! You won't be able to put it down.
A Classic Sci-Fi Novel

Chrome is a classic. The characterisation and the technology are blended and unlike many gay themed SF novels it does not rely on sex as the pivot to the story. It's erotic rather than sexual.Nader seems to have written this book from his heart and I cannot understand why there were no further titles from him.I've lent (and had to demand back) this book to many people. If you can get it you'll never forget it.
One of the best written gay fiction books I have ever read.

I haven't been this moved by a good gay fiction book since Song of the Loon which I read at the tender age of 16. It is not dripping with sex and the characters live beyond the sexual realm. When I first read this book I fell in love with Chrome and Vortex. I actually felt like I shared thier mutual awakenings. I laughed and cried with them, and never wanted the story to end. This book deserves a sequel.
