Trixie Doesn't Disappoint

For those who may have read "Life is Good! Lessons in Joyful Living" also by Trixie Koontz (Dean Koontz), this book is similar, however centering on Christmas and Trixie's views on all things related. While Trixie centers on the things she loves (particularly sausages)--with fun illustrations, she also writes about the true meaning of Christmas from her perspective. Proceeds from this book go to Canine Companions for Independence; so aside from enjoying a delightful read, buyers are also helping a good cause.

Trixie Koontz who is Dog is Excellent Fun!

This book is a delightful addition to the shelf of any book lover who is also a dog lover! The premise of the book is that the author is a golden retriever named Trixie, who belongs to bestselling author Dean Koontz. Trixie writes with a distinctive voice that immediately welcomes the reader into her world. She is clever, down-right funny at times, and sweet: everything a good golden retriever dog should be. She is also motivated by her tummy-- and the lengths she goes to for treats will have anyone who lives with dogs laughing out loud. Trixie's point of view about Christmas is heartwarming without being too sweet, but the absurdities of family gatherings and holiday traditions are not lost on the old girl! Trixie's commentaries about presents and her Christmas Wish List are worth the price of the book, but there is much more to be enjoyed in this little volume. My family and I, human and canines, had a ball reading this book aloud on Christmas Eve-- it will be a part of our family tradition from now on. 5 stars-- buy it today!

Now Hold On Just a Minute!

All your other reviewers are feeding the folks a lot of Malarky (PC word for BS). I am 75 years young and a retired engineer. My son is in his late 40's. My daughter, who gave me this book is 50. We all think this is about the greatest book ever written. It is definitely not "just for children". Not any more than, say, Alice in Wonderland, or Gullivers Travels, or Treasure Island, or Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, or The Wizard of Oz are "just for children". This is one of those wonderful works that appeals to people of all ages and all times. It will be as appealing 50 years from now as today, and not just at Christmas time. You will be proud to own a first edition.

Review by Janice, who is human

Read while eating cookies and drinking milk. Laughed so hard, milk came out of nose. Warning: Do not read while drinking ANYTHING! Trixie mercilessly funny. She reminds us that Christmas not about getting, is about giving and peace on earth for all men, and dogs. Cats, too, if possess generous spirit. :o) Photography by Monique Stauder was excellent. No photos of Trixie with fake reindeer antlers. Preserves dignity of Trixie. Illustrations by Janet Cleland also wonderful. Will make you full of Christmas cheer. Editing by Dean Koontz, Trixie's dad, fabulous as always. For big belly laughs, pick up copies as stocking stuffers for children, and pets. You'll have to read it to your pooch.

A Joyful Gift for a "Golden Season"

While exploring the many Christmas offerings displayed in the bookstore today, I found the newest book by Trixie. A grand surprise, that! Forgotten were the other books with covers of different dogs and cats. Here was a little treasure penned by a Golden Retriever, and my favorite furry author! I thought at once it would make a fantastic Christmas gift, and bought it for myself. While waiting for my husband who was sampling a CD in the music section, I pulled Trixie's book out of the bag and began reading. Delightful! Worth every smile, chuckle, and sigh of "Aw..." And, Trixie is so smart and sweet looking, I wonder how many times the photographer had to stop just to give her hugs.
