If you want your kids to be artists, then I say give them real art for inspiration. Fiona Watt is a talented artist whose ideas for childrens projects showcase her skill with color, design and technique. The directions are beautifully illutrated in color, making the steps easy to explain to children. I always demo the techniques in cirlce, then leave the book open on the easel so that my students can refer to the steps. In our kindergarten class, we have made several of the projects from Christmas Art Ideas to give as presents for our parents, and painted the gift bags to put them in. They are always received with awe and delight. I just bought a second copy to give to a friend.
