Book Overview

The Christmas story evokes many touching images. Halos, fresh hay, shepherds carrying newborn lambs, and young motherhood in blue homespun. It's enough to bring tears to the eyes of Christmastime churchgoers. But the Christmas story is more than sentimental--it is powerful. An excellent read for Advent

I was given this book in 1983 soon after it was published and I use it as an Advent reading every year. It is a collection of Christmas sermons given by pastor/ theologian/ prolific author James Montgomery Boice to his church: Tenth Presbyterian. He focused on the power and promise of Christ as opposed to a sentimental baby-story. His explanation of reconciling The Genealogies is genius. This book is a treasure and would make an excellent gift. I have given many copies of this book away over the years. JMB passed away some years ago but his clear Bible teaching lives on through is many books, including this one.

James Montgomery is a very insightful author.

Have read other books by this author. Always enjoyable.

Unwrap This Christmas Gift Early

James Montgomery Boice gave the Christian community many wonderful gifts, but his work, The Christ of Christmas, makes perhaps the best Christmas present the late pastor provided before his untimely death. This wondrous little volume will inspire those who desire to warmly and biblically: - Celebrate the birth of Christ - Reflect on the importance and purpose of the Incarnation - Have a Christ-centered holiday season Contemplative, alluring, nevertheless not a mere facile read. The Christ of Christmas makes a great pre-Christmas present or a annual family Christmas devotion. Solid, Reformed, with a laser-beam focus on Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior.
