A very informative + easy read

This book does not just rehash the original Chemical Free Kids book. It discusses new topics. It refers to the original books several times. I suggest reading both books. Both are a quick easy read + well organized for reference. [I could have done without the silly graphics] Chemical-Free Kids: The Organic Sequel explains GMOs [as well as the politics involved] in quick basic easy to understand terms. It also explains how organic foods are 25% to 60% more nutritious than nonorganic foods [depending on the nutrient]. The sections on nutrients & synthetics are in list form for a very quick read. If you are interested in nutrition, buy this book. If you are a mom or a teacher, don't pass this one up. You will not be disappointed. Then please contact your public officials letting them know you are concerned about GMO labeling & your tax dollars that subsidize these 'foods' rather than organics!

Chemical-Free Kids: The Organic Sequel is a must-read for everyone who wants good health for themselves and their children. In the years since I wrote my first child-oriented allergy cookbook (Allergy Cooking With Ease, 1992, 2007 Allergy Cooking with Ease: The No Wheat, Milk, Eggs, Corn, and Soy Cookbook) more and more distraught parents have been contacting me about their children's food allergies which are much more severe and to many more foods than my son's allergies were. After reading Chemical-Free Kids: The Organic Sequel, some of the reasons for this trend are obvious. Parents, if you don't protect your children, nobody else will! You need the information in this book because, as the book reveals, now more than ever, government "protective" agencies are the puppets of large corporations and have little concern for the health of your family. Here are a couple of examples from the book: When President Clinton signed the Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA) in 1996, he called it a "peace of mind guarantee for American families." A few years later, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) began mothballing its libraries, thus eliminating access to reliable data about the effects of pesticides and forcing EPA staff to rely on "facts" provided by industry instead. Three months before the 2006 deadline for completion of the research mandated by the FQPA, 9000 upset EPA employees sent an open letter to the head of the EPA stating that the mission of the FQPA had not been accomplished. The EPA published press releases three months later saying that it had completed the research, and that our food was safe. Another example is the FDA's assertion (not supported by any testing) that genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are no different than foods that have been traditionally bred to select for desirable characteristics. Chemical-Free Kids: The Organic Sequel cites research that shows that GMOs cause food allergy reactions, transfer their added genetic material to other organisms including our intestinal bacteria, and have caused serious medical problems in laboratory animals that have eaten them. However the FDA allows GMOs to be added to our food supply with no testing or approval process required. But this book does not just tell about the problems with our food supply. It gives very practical advice on how to deal with them and to eat to protect yourself and your family. It contains two great chapters about the "Mighty Micronutrients" (how and from which foods to get the best nutrition) and the "Sinister Synthetics" (how to avoid GMOs, pesticides, preservatives, and other harmful chemicals in your food).
