For Andrea, a high school teacher, finding the fulfillment in marriage she has vowed to have since coming to grips with her parents divorce, was easy. Keeping it is the hard part. Her vow is put to... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Why must some always seek the 'greener' grass? Chris and Andrea had a great marriage with the usual challenges. When an opportunity presented itself, Chris had an affair with Andrea's best friend's relative. Ms. Lawson knows how to tell a story in a manner that we ALL can relate to. Intimate relationships and friendships are tested and the lessons learned are real. I couldn't put the book down; this is a MUST read! I look forward to her next offering because Ms. Lawson definitely 'weaves a tangled web' with her pen!
Refreshingly Real

Cheatin' in the Next Room by Rhonda Lawson was not what I expected at all. It was much, much more! The story focuses on a young couple who seems to have the Midas touch. No couple in their circle of friends could compare to the dream life that Christopher and Andrea Lee were living. He was a successful sports writer and she was a teacher, a match made in heaven. But, sometimes even the strongest unions can get rocked by the unexpected. Such is the case with Christopher and Andrea. Andrea's best friend, Brenda, has a young cousin visiting for Christmas. Hot mama Alexis immediately becomes fixated on Christopher or, more to the point, what he represented in terms of what Alexis viewed as the kind of life she wanted. Christopher proved to be the epitome of an old adage "a man is only as faithful as his opportunities," and unwisely gets involved in an affair with Alexis. The truth comes out and manifests itself in different ways on the various relationships between the Christopher and Andrea, Brenda and Andrea, and Alexis and Brenda, and well, just about everybody. The refreshing thing about Cheatin' is that it's not really about the act, but the aftermath; not the intent, but the impact. Surely Christopher didn't want to hurt anyone. I can't really say the same for Alexis, but she could be the subject of another book all on her own. Rhonda's strong storyline conveys the long-range effects of infidelity on every facet of a marriage and the peripheral relationships as well. Rhonda skillfully depicts how Christopher and Andrea struggle through the turmoil in their marriage, how their feelings got conflicted and how they sometimes slipped into what I call "bad decision-making mode." What I really liked was the fact that they make an attempt to work it out. Many say they would leave a man if he cheated, but how many would actually do it? There is so much to consider and Rhonda does a fine job of illustrating how the relationship plays out. Cheatin' in the Next Room was an illuminating read, not the typical "you-done-me-wrong-and-I'm-gonna-pay-you-back" fare that you may expect. Pick it up, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

So Believable It Made Me MAD!

Rhonda did a wonderful job illustrating all the characters in this book. I read this book in one day because I just had to find out how the storyline played out. I strongly disliked the characters Christopher and Brenda. Christopher to me is so selfish and stubborn that I don't see him EVER changing his ways. And Brenda is so clingy, that she really upsets me. I was beginning to think that she was fond of Andrea. However, I had the pleasure of meeting Rhonda M. Lawson and she was able to help me understand her motivations and thinking on creating each character. 5 stars!!!

I read this book in 1 day and I just couldn't close the book. First chapter just blew me a way, so I had to see what was going to happen. This book has a lot of truth on what infidelity can do to a beautiful marriage and destroy a friendship. But, if you are strong and have beliefs then as you can see you can get through anything. Rhonda hurry up with your next book!
