Despite the earlier glowing user reviews of this book, I was was so surprised at how great it really is. I obviously don't know what a "Junior Forum" is because I expected a low-budget presentation from some kind of Boy Scout group. These are classy, classic recipes from the upper crust of San Antonio society and also its finest restaurants. Yet all the ingredients are as simple as you would find in Rachel Rays's 30-minute dishes and are easily available to me up here in Michigan. Of course, cooking times vary, but I would consider most recipes very easy. Also, due to the city's rich cultural heritage, which is also nicely touched upon in the book, there are many favorites from the heart of Europe. As above, a great all-round cookbook.

I was born and raised in San Antonio, I moved to West Virginia, all my new friends come over and want Tex-Mex cooking, I show them this book, and they have ordered it. Everything in this book is "SAN ANTONIO" and the pictures remind me of HOME!

There are some great receipes in this book. The one for the barbecue beef brikett is just outstanding! Other meat dishes including chops and such are also fabulous. A definite keeper for the cook book collection in my house.
Great food from my hometown

I grew up in San Antonio, so I can vouch that these simple recipes taste like home. The Tex-Mex recipes..green enchiladas, layered bean dip, picadillo, more exotic south-of-the-border soups, all shine, as do more all-American recipes for brownies, simple chicken dishes and vegetables. A great all-around cookbook with a South Texas accent..

Not the expected Tex-Mex. These recipes are from home kitchens taste tested by family and friends of these outstanding cooks. Easy to follow format with no "far-out" ingredients. Everything I've tried has been a winner! Gifts of this one to friends have resulted in repeated thanks.
