Great for first-time parents, not just the cavemen

I bought this for my husband for Father's Day, as we're expecting our first child. He didn't even get to look at it yet because I spent the whole day skimming it. The whole book is very well written - not so technical as lots of the "mom" books are. Easy to read, easy to find specific topics. Good illustrations for baby massage, great tables on the timeline for foods, and I love the input from "expert" women scattered throughout. It will be read cover to cover before this baby arrives. Honestly, I'm as clueless about being a parent as he is, and this book will help me get over some of the scares.

Finally!

This is the first of all the books written for men that I found to be funny without being patronizing. It is honest, funny, and offers ways for men to help their wives rather than the usual grin and bear it tone that the other books have. I thought I was done with the idea of giving my husband a book about pregnancy "for men". Every single one of them treated pregnancy like treating a disease! I knew if my husband relayed a single line from one of those books his life would be in danger. Then this miraculous book appeared yes women you can give your men a book that does not make you out to be an alien. Yes men here is a book for you with reassurances that everything is going according to plan and suggestions for what to do in the mean time.

Second is as good as the first

If you read the first book you will love this one. If you didn't read the first one you will still love this one. Hopefully Dave and his co-authors will continue to explore the steps of children and how adults can cope with those steps.
