This was my first JAK book, but I did not know it at the time since it was written under her alias. I really enjoyed this book because it was very well written and had elements of her later and much longer novels. The story is about Elly Trent and Jess Winters. They have been in a relationship for two months and Jess is determined to take things very slowly because of his past and volatile relationship with his ex-wife. Elly is feeling very insecure and as if Jess has her on some kind of schedule. She decides to take matters into her own hands and find out if their relationship is going anywhere. However, on the night that she decides to do this and seduce Jess, he sees his ex-wife's face in the window and abruptly leaves Elly to investigate. Elly quite naturally is angry and wary of Jess and he knows that he has an uphill battle in getting Elly to the altar. This is not the only aspect that the couple has to deal with. Elly's family are very demanding members and has Elly afraid that they will remind Jess of his ex-wife and her "excitement". She tries to prevent Jess from dealing with anything that has to do with her family and their business, however, Jess is having none of that and tries to coax Elly from being such a "cautious lover".If you find this book, it is definitely a keeper.
