UNUSUAL BOOK ON ROME

I say 'unusual' mostly as indication that I did not know of this book for a long time only coming across it is 1993. It is a subject of my interest, but one I never looked into, now finding the book essential to my library. I have the trade paperback from Thomas Nelson Publishers looking as the image shown with this review. From this book we received some knowledge of the lives and deaths of the early Christians, who helped form the early church. The author examines both 'how' and 'why' the catacombs were built, explaining some of the builders hopes and beliefs. He also talks of the artwork found in the catacombs attempting to tie it to the beliefs of these early Christians. This book should appeal to both scholar and lay person alike. The book also has may illustrations and photographs with index and list of illustrations. Overall a very nice book for anyone interested in early church history or Christianity in general. Semper Fi.
