Carolina Isle

Sarah and Ariel are identical cousins. They only meet when they are in their twentys because Sarah came from the wrong side of the track, while Ariel has hardly left the sleepy little town of Arundel, North Carolina. One Day when Ariel is in NYC she meets R.J Brompton who is Sarah's boss and falls in love with him. With the help of her friend David Treadwell she comes up with a plan for her and Sarah to switch places so Ariel can be with R.J. She convinces Sarah to do the switch and R.J to come to Arundle to look at a Island near the town that his friend is interested in buying. Several weeks later Ariel as Sarah, Sarah as Areil, David, and R.J. are on their way to Kings Isle to check it out. While they are on a tour of the town they almost run into a dog, which people think they ran over and kill. They are put into jail, but manage to get out thanks to a lawyer. The four have a court appointment the following Monday and they leave the jail and what awaits them is a mystry that they have to solve by Monday including a dead body, gold, and a town secret no one wants to share. I gave Ms. Deveraux another chance (see my review of "Holly"), and she did not fail me this time. Although the ending was a little disappointing. It just ended. Right at the climactic moment of the story! Broke right to the Epilogue. After all the build up of the search and the finally budding relationship of the hero and heroine, BOOM. But it was a good book - I really finally enjoyed another of Jude Deveraux's stories. In fact, I'm not a prude, there was no graphic sex! Thank you. It was fun, light reading, and I finished it in a few days. Likeable characters, and very cute twists. Bring back some of the Montgomery's and Taggerts again please!

I am a very long time Deveraux fan. I enjoyed this book and found the whole story very interesting with quarky characters. But I too felt like it was kind of thrown together and published before it should have been. It needed just some more developing of characters and story and it would easily be a 5+ star book and probably one of my favorites of hers. Perhaps someday she will "re-write" it.

I liked this book, it was a bit slow at the start but the main characters were humorous and kept me interested to the end. If you like Ms. Deveraux's books, give this one a chance and read it! Sydney ([email protected])

I loved the book. The begining started out a little choppy but the moment the four main characters came together it was a non-stop adventure. I finished the book in one day (my local grocery store had it out two days early) Very unexpected. The blurb on the back of the book doesn't do the book justice. It made me think I was going to be reading something light like, In Her Shoes. Howeverd, this was not the case. Buy the book and see for your self.
