A "let's do this again" kind of story

The depressed members of the commando team get the mission they have been waiting for: the tracks of the arms-pirates have been found on Noreen, Connor's homeworld. Hoping the chance of getting revenge will save her husband's life, the colonel sets her team to the work. And as usual, with humans and nature against them, the commandos risk more than their own lives in a battle against time. Finally, there are a lot of space fights sequences, so everybody gets to see Sogan's flight worth. And they all (no surprise there) get out of the mission entire and death-proof-ed all over again. This is my second favourite in the series, beside "Return to War". Highly recommended.

AKA Jungle Assault Part two

The crack commando teams learns the source of their troubles on Amazoon and follow the trail back to Noreen of Tara and near the Connor homestead. For Connor it is a bittersweet homecoming. The bright side is that you get to meet Connor's family and experience the Noreen Banshee. One thing to note is that this is the 9th in a series of 12 books. Watchdogs of space, Pariah, and War Prince finish out the series.

Too bad it had to end.

For fans of the Star Commandos series this book was a dissapointment only in that it signalled the conclusion of a -fun- series of books. It took up neatly where 'Jungle Assault' left off, and while the entire series was pleasantly well connected, this second book was deeply linked with its predecessor making it an amazingly fun read. The fact that action takes place on the home planet of some of the major characters, rather than some distant far off colony made it just that much more engrossing. Too bad it was the last.
