Calf Roping

I like horses, cowboys, rodeo, cattle, and this best book called 'Calf Roping (The World of Rodeo)' by author Kimberly King, and this is the best book ever that teaches cowboys and cowgirls how to rope and tie up calves to be the best and professional at it and roping a calf does sure take speed, strength, and skill and the cowhand must hold the frightened animal down until he can tie its legs. Roping is a favorite display at rodeos where cowboys compete for points to decide the national champion. There are the best two photos of the NFR in Las Vegas, Nevada in this book Calf Roping (The World of Rodeo) and my two favorite photos of calf roping at the NFR are on pages 16 and 34 which tells us that most of the skills and artistry of calf roping (such as the three years like 2000-2002 as if part of 1985-1987 at the NFR) have been passed down from generation to generation, having first been mastered by the vaqueros in Spanish America. It is an excellent sport (for the NFR) for both spectator and participant. Cowboys and cowgirls race against the clock and each other, and must have trust in their horse and all they have learned from hours of practice and in order to succeed by signalling to the judges that you have completed the tie. The calf's hind legs and one front leg have been tied and the rope leading back to the horse is pulled taut. In 1989, one calf roper missed qualifying for the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) by a little over one dollar because, since, 1975, the PRCA recognized a need for an award system for these cowboys who might never make it to the National Finals Rodeo, the sport's year-end championship. It's just like this need for an award system for one calf roper who had missed qualifying and might never make it to the 1989 National Finals Rodeo, the sport's year-end championship which a cowboy had worked hard had and was hoping to make it to the 1989 NFR but, that made you really mad that you missed it so, in 1990, you made it to the NFR. The best calf roping greats are Everett Bowman, Toots Mansfield, Dean Oliver, Roy Cooper, Fred Whitfield, Cody Ohl, Joe Beaver, Rabe Rabon, Troy Pruitt. The only left-handed calf ropers ever to qualify at the NFR were: Grady Allen, 1960 Bob Ragsdale, 1961-75 Ronnye Sewalt, 1961, 1963-75, 1977-78 Butch Bode, 1976 Tom Walker, 1986, 1998 James Zant, 1987-88, 1990, 1995 You might want to hear some past calf roping champs from my favourite years from 1983 to 1987 and they are: TIE-DOWN ROPING $122,455 Roy Cooper, Durant, Okla. ...... 1983 $89,703 Roy Cooper, Durant, Okla. ...... 1984 $95,869 Joe Beaver, Victoria, Texas ...... 1985 $88,877 Chris Lybbert, Argyle, Texas ...... 1986 $108,585 Joe Beaver, Victoria, Texas ...... 1987 At the 2002 Wrangler NFR in Las Vegas, Nate Baldwin and Trevor Brazile both roped their calves in 7.2 seconds which was the best.
