Buttons

Published in the late '30s, this lap-size book has simple and direct prose: the story of a cat who became homeless and how he found a family. The illustrations made this 68 year old want to be 4 again. Charming but not precious charcoal drawings release the vivacious character of Buttons. While the text and pictures are well-married, the illustrations are rich enough to allow a parent or grandparent to use "Buttons" as a picture book I bought it for myself and to share with other cat-loving friends. Maybe even with a child!
