Book Overview

"Cigars all around"( LOUISE URE, SHAMUS AWARD-WINNING AUTHOR) for the new Maternal Instincts mystery series. First-time mom Kate Connelly is bringing up baby- and bringing down a killer. Kate Connelly may have found the perfect work-from-home Mommy job: private investigator. After all, the hours are flexible, she can bring the baby along on stake-outs, and if you're going to be up all night anyway, you might as well solve some crimes. But when a body...

Loved It!

Kate is pregnant and just starting labor. Before she gets to the hospital, she gets a phone call regarding her mysterious brother in law, George. She becomes obsessed with finding out what George has to do with a recent murder. Even after the baby is born, instead of going to her old job, Kate becomes a private investigator ... just not officially. The mystery runs deeper than Kate realizes, and people keep dying. I couldn't wait to read this one; it just seemed like such fun. I had to laugh at the "To Do Lists" that Kate would come up with, which reminds me of myself. The characters were intriguing, and I couldn't figure out "who done it" until the story got around to unfolding the mystery. I can't wait for the sequel to come out in March 2010.

A Delightful Read

A very entertaining book that achieves a nice balance between the amusing tribulations of a woman adjusting to motherhood and an increasingly complicated puzzle involving difficult family relationships. Mystery lovers will particularly be drawn to the deft plotting that keeps the book moving along. However, the real joy of the book is Kate Connelly, a beautifully drawn character, a charming mix of shrewdness and naivite, whose intelligence we cheer even as she forgets her checkbook and cell phone. Kate is a fine addition to the roster of amateur sleuths, and I look forward to her further adventures.

Can't wait for the next book!

I picked it up and could not put it down. One...Two...Three murders, a newborn, husband lost his job, mentor has a heart attack and she still has time to solve the crime, wait... crimes. Drug dealers, diapers, dead beat brother in laws - Kate Connolly can handle it all. Thanks to Diana Orgain for the introduction to this intriguing new slant on murder mystery, and I can't wait for the to see how many cliff hanging chapters it will take Kate to solve her next case.

Bundle of Trouble and a side of laughs

Bundle of Trouble (A Maternal Instincts Mystery) Bundle of Trouble is one of the best books I've read in a long while! A unique turn is that the protagonist is a brand new Mom and truly and really Mommy minded. I couldn't put down this book until grudgingly, my family said they had to eat! Bundle of Trouble is a tale of murder, intrigue, suspense and baby bottles. This funny new mom book features mommy detective Kate Connelly, a new mom with a plan to spend her maternity leave bonding with her precious new baby. Things take an unexpected turn when the Connelly's receive a phone call saying a body was found in the San Francisco Bay and the police think it may be Kate's brother in-law. Kate finds herself smack dab in the middle of a murder investigation with her new baby on her hip. With binkies, bottles and a diaper bag of sleuthing supplies, Kate finds herself in questionable situations and meeting sketchy characters with dark secrets. Any situation she finds herself in paints a new piece of the puzzle in this very funny who-done-it. Kate Connelly, new Mom, sleuth, gal about town with diaper bag is an excellent detective and I can't wait till she starts her next case! Bundle of Trouble (A Maternal Instincts Mystery)

~~~~ GREAT BOOK! ~~~~
My wife told me that I had to read this book. I was not very excited about it because, well, I'm a guy and it seemed very geared to moms. But she has a good sense of what is good and what is great. She would not stop talking about how great it was, so I gave it a try. AMAZING! It totally blow me away. This writer has really got that special touch. With two more books in the series coming out, my wife and I are both super excited. Well worth it. Buy it, read it and I dare you to tell me different. Bravo Diana Orgain!
