Great book containing two tales of swashbuckling and heroism

"Brothers of the Sword/Children of Time" are an outstanding pair novels (in one book) by Michael Reisig, who might be one of the best unknown authors in the US. The novels are written back to back with the same characters reincarnating through 300 years of time. Sounds perplexing, but once you read the two books it all comes together. "Brothers..." is actually the prequel to another book written a few years ago by Reisig entitled "The New Madrid Run". (It still remains one of my favorites!) In "Brothers...", Reisig introduces two strong male characters, a strong female character and some teriffic role players. The books relate stories about these characters who are pirates and smugglers that fight memorable battles and find tremendous amounts of treasure. It's a great "buddy" book that will appeal to readers who enjoy a great plot that's tightly written and fast -moving. It's actually refreshing to read an author who's not caught up in having to produce thousands of additional words for his publisher in order to justify a higher pricetag for the book. Do yourself a favor and grab any of Reisig's works and settle in for some terrific entertainment!

Reisig's Best So Far

If you like lots of villians, non-stop action and surprise endings, this is your cup of tea. But don't start this book unless you have time to finish it in one sitting. I made that mistake by taking it on a commercial flight and found myself sitting in the airport waiting area for three extra hours after the flight landed just to find out how it all ended. But it was worth it. Reisig mixes the feel of the Caribbean with genuine heros and sneering evil-doers to weave a tale that will have you swinging sabers and saving heroines in distress - at least in your own mind. First rate adventure story for folks who aren't afraid of a little imagination.

Delightful romp with Master Storyteller.

There are so many things included in this Reisig book that will thrill, warm, and enlighten every reader. Having read Madrid Run, I was suprised to learn that I was learning of the beginnings of the two main characters - not just their earlier days, but of beginnings of friendship that dated back hundreds of years to the swashbuckling days of pirates and their life. Different names, different situation, different times, but the same spirit living within each. The depth of history and cultures, as well as the continuation of spirit, kept me reading much past bedtime several nights. Reisig has an insight to the spirit of man and how love can transcend time. His use of words and phrases, both harsh and flowerly, filled me with the man's mastery of the written word, while at the same time, thrilled me with his masterful ability to tell a story that keeps a reader turning pages and wanting more. Reigig delivers in all ways.
