Bringing Buddhism to the West

Londoner Dennis Lingwood realized at the age of 16 that he was a Buddhist. Conscripted during World War II, he went on Army service to India, where he stayed on to become a Buddhist monk with the name Sangharakshita. As hippies flocked eastward in the Sixties, he returned to England to establish the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order.

Excellent introduction to The friends of the Buddhist Order

In this book gives Subhuti a brief but very good introduction to Sangharakshitas (the founder of FWBO) vision of Buddhism. It's very inspiring to see how well this 2500 year old tradition fits into our modern world, and hopefully will influence it into a positive direction. A must to read for everyone interested in Buddhis
