It was first published in 1948 so the recipes are all from scratch with an old-time feel, something your grandmother or great-grandmother might have made from a recipe handed down for generations from an ancestor who came to America from Europe. Every recipe I have tried has been delicious and I especially love the recipes with variations, such as the one for muffins, which give you a basic recipe with 30 different ways of changing the ingredients slightly to give a different flavor.
