Terence Blacker's brilliantly funny novel Boy2Girl shines a laser-sharp beam into the perilous territory of early teen life and gender norms, in an uproarious story of chaos, confusion, and cross-dressing.
Matthew's American cousin, Sam, has come to London to live with the family. Sam is a charismatic, funny kid, but can he be trusted to be a reliable friend? Matthew and his "mates" decide that Sam must undertake a challenge...
Laugh out loud funny, cute, and thought provoking!

It starts as a way to get back at Matt's annoying American cousin Sam...and then it all goes haywire. Sam comes to live with Matt's family when his mother dies, seeing as his dad's in jail and not a fit guardian in general. After Sam provokes a fight in their hamburger joint/hang out place and an 'enemy' girl reports them to the police, Sam is desperate to get back in with the gang and so suggests an initiation "like we do in the States." Matt and his friends decide to make the initiation so improbable, so unpalatable- so impossible- that Sam won't be able to do it and they'll be free of him for good. The job? Be a girl for a full school week at his new school. What no one expected was that he'd be *good* at it...Before long (with the help of a push-up bra and unwanted attention from one of the school's cutest older boys) Sam is the new school cutie. Then one of his new girl friends falls in love with 'her', another is jealous and in denial, his guy friends are claiming him as a girlfriend to get their moms off their backs, and his no-good recently released from jail dad and his dad's newest girlfriend are trying to get at Sam's sudden inheritence from his recently deceased mom (which Sam doesn't even know about- yet. Add puberty to the mix and you've got a gal with some big, big problems! This book is hysterical and well written; and it makes you think without being preachy. Are guys really all that different from girls? And if they are, is that such a bad thing? Read this book!! You won't regret taking the time to do so.

Boy2Girl was a great book. It's hilarious, but at the same time talks about serious subjects like death and gender confusion. I really liked the fact that it had a little bit of romance too, but it didnt go over the top on romance and it really depicted teenage feelings well. You should definitely read this book. I read it for a project in school, and my group members and i really liked it.
