I very rarely write reviews because I am also a romance author and do not wish to pass judgment on other romance authors. However,as I was browsing Harlequin Presents (which I love to read even though I write historicals) I noticed 3 stars for this Julia James novel. Those 3 stars left me flabbergasted. This story showcases many emotions from humorous to grippingly emotional. The hero wasn't cheap with his money. He didn't want to be wanted because he was rich and felt the heroine had lied by her silence. He misjudged her because of earlier experiences with women. The heroine loved him enough to leave because she thought he would never believe her if she told the truth. Both Caesar and Rosalind suffered from conflicting and believable emotional turmoil. I had never read a Julia James book before this. I have since bought all her books because I loved this one so much. Highly recommended this 5 star author...
A classic Presents Read

An irresistible Spanish hero, a woman content to be his mistress for as long as he will let her grace his bedroom, until he finds out her "terrible secret"... We all know what will happen next, but that didn't diminish in any way the pleasure I enjoyed in reading Julia James' take on this very classic plot. The last half of the book was a rollercoaster ride that left me breathless and gasping for more. The final scene has a wonderful edgy quality to it but if I said why, well, that would give the game away. The hero is utterly likeable, so we can forgive him even when he is very very bad. All in all, I enjoyed this book tremendously and can't wait to read more from Julia James.
