This was a great book from page one. I love it when a book grabs your attention and keeps it till the last page. This is the story of Burke and Shannon. Burke is a rich totally good looking bachelor who decides he wants a child but not a wife, so he advertises for a surrogate. When Shannon walks into his office he is so stunned by his physical reaction to her that he knows she should be the mother of his child. However, he knows he'll never fall in love so he'll have to keep it a business deal. He does know however that he can love a child unconditionally. Shannon is full time student with two jobs, student loans and a mother who needs constant care due to a stroke. When her mother's savings run out, Shannon turns to surrogacy as a way of keeping her mother in a good home. She knows she will be forever scarred by giving up the child but makes the sacrifice for her mother. What she didn't expect was the overwhelming attraction she felt for the baby's father. She knows she must keep it business or she'll fall in love. She knows he will love the child unconditionally and it makes him all the more appealling. He is so caring about her health and well being that she melts everytime he is near. These two characters are so afraid of falling in love that you know its inevitable. The chemistry leaps off the page keeping you hooked till the end. I love historical romances but occassionally I pick up a contemporary story for a change of pace. This book makes me glad I did.
A perfect feel good romance!

Burke Bishop is considered Chicago's most eligible bachelor. Although he's ready to be a father, he's by no means ready be tied down by marriage. So, Burke settles upon the idea of having a surrogate mother carry his child for him. Shannon Moriarity seems the perfect choice. Shannon's mother needs expensive round the clock nursing care and Burke's offer appears to be the answer to her problem. Neither Burke nor Shannon expect to find themselves so drawn to each other. As the pregnancy progresses their feelings for each other deepen, but with Burke's family history will he be willing to open his heart and take a chance on love? Bought By A Millionaire is the kind of romance I love to read when I want a pick me up. Heidi Betts does a wonderful job delivering the happily-ever-after I read romances for. Burke and Shannon drew me in from the first. Although the surrogate mother story is used often in serial romances, Ms. Betts still kept me turning pages wanting Burke and Shannon's happy ending. Readers who are looking for a short, feel good romance will do well to pick up a copy of Bought By A Millionaire. Melissa Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed
Great book!

I loved this one - very tender and romantic. [...] Chicago's Most Eligible Bachelor, Burke Bishop, wanted a child - but didn't want to be shackled by marriage. Surrogacy seemed the only solution. When he met gorgeous Shannon Moriarity he knew he'd found the perfect mother for his baby. For reasons she wouldn't say, Shannon accepted his high-price offer and requested they keep things strictly business. They conceived without touching, yet Burke found himself craving Shannon's warmth and demanded she move into his penthouse. Soon, the close quarters elevated their relationship into intimate territory where neither could deny the bond they shared. But when their contract was fulfilled, would they find a prize richer than money could buy?
A Wonderful Read

I had read several of Ms. Betts historicals, but had no idea I was in for such a treat when I bought this book, which is her contemporary debut. In "Bought By A Millionaire," the author managed to make me smile, laugh out loud, and grab for the Kleenex box to wipe away the sniffles and tears. This is a tender, heart-wrenching, sensual, modern day Cinderella story with such well-drawn characters that by the end I considered them friends. It's a lovely story, and well-worth the read.
