Previous reviewer is a shlemil, as Marbreit would say

The previous reviewer has an obvious chip on his shoulder about something related to Markbreit. Does Jerry go a tad overboard with the self congratulations, patting himself on the back, and other ego-enhancing activities in this book? Perhaps. But if you read the book, you will also hear embarassing stories and situations where Jerry makes a tokhes of himself (again, as he would say). The example of the whistles is simply idiotic. Jerry talks about them once for about 2 sentences when he tells the story of buying his referee equipment for the first time. Then, he talks about them again in a small paragraph section on conditioning. As a former official, many officials talk about whistles in more than just passing terms. They are, after all, an important piece of equipment. You would probably be better off getting Markbreit's newest book, as (although I haven't read it) that probably relates much of what is in here. But this is a fun read, especially for those in the mid-west who will relate to the Big 10 and Chicago area better than those of us in the south.
